Jerusalem - The indecisiveness is a thing of the past, as far as the Simchas Beis HaShoeva in Yerushalayim is concerned. The Beis Din ruled that the Simcha will begin in the Shul- for men only, and then continue out into the streets as per the Rebbe's instructions. The entire street will be closed off to traffic. This change in the usual mode of celebration is due to the statement issued lately by various Admorim, forbidding the Simchas Beis haShoeva events to take place in the open air.

The psak din was not reached easily, as there were differences in opinion between Rabbi M.M. Glukowsky and Rabbi Y.Y. Yaroslavsky, concerning the issue of canceling the event altogether, or having it go on. In the end they both signed the joint psak din.

Rabbis Slonim, Halperin and Blau of Yerushalayim praised the Beis Din for the decision, and will participate as in previous years.

Rabbi Blau spoke with the Shturem correspondent, and remarked that this psak avoided a catastrophe, which could have destroyed fifty years of tedious Hafotzo in the charedi population, and bringing this segment of the nation closer to the Rebbe. He also mentioned the tremendous efforts and success of Rabbis Y.Y. Aharonov and N. Roth in the organization of the annual Simchas Beis HaShoevo, as well as Lag B'Omer parades and Siyumei Rambam, where many Rabbonim and Admorim participate. "This brings their followers closer to the Rebbe. I am glad that the psak follows in a similar vein".

not content in destroying regular chareidi life they are now looking to destory chabad. Please don't take us down with you! These boys and girls will meet regardless, now they will do it in nightclubs and other places. This doesn't stop the problems. This isn't a cure to the disease. All you are doing is hurting the people who will be b'simcha and benefit from the potency of this event, which has now been scaled back.

Please stay out of Chabad's business!!

Will the women at least be able to watch, or will they have to stay in shul? Why can't they just build a very tall mechitzah? I seems so unfair. This is only going to cause a lot of resentment. I understand the reason behind the kol korei. Pritzus is a big problem. But there has to be some kind of compromise.

Kudos to CHABAD!
as every serious person who wants to really have Simchas Bais Hashovah knows, that with having boys and girls mingle, it can not be a pure Simcha, just like in the Basi Hamikdosh times, "V'Hoyeh miskan tikun godal"

Michal, There can be no compromise regarding pritzus. And as you see, the Lubavitch Rabbonim have so recognized.

cr, you've clearly never been to the chabad simchas bais hashoevah, or if you have, you're completely blind. There are thousands of men and women from all over yerushalayim, most of them are not from chabad, and they're right next to each other by the concert with some sections completely mixed. most of these people are not ppl who would be going to night clubs they are good yeshiva guys, b'y dirls, kollel couples, etc. And chabad is doing a fine enough job destroying their children they don't need the charedim to help.

I do not understand what the story of "fifty years of getting these people closer to the Rebbe would be destroyed": Are they saying that Lubavitch is a missionary movement???We are talking about frum people who have their own rebbes and rabbunim

Chaim; get something straight- there are only two types of people, Lubavitchers and potential Lubavitchers!

I believe that there are more youths going off the derech in non-chassidishe homes compared to Chabad or other chassidim. So I doubt that attending a Simcha Bais Hashoiva, esp. by Chabad is going to cause them to go off the derech. On the contrary. The Chabadniks will only, I'YH, bring them closer. Yidden going off the derech usually comes from the home. If you have a home that exudes a strong love a Yiddishkeit, I'YH, it will prevent them from going off.

And what exactly stops the ladies from standing around on the street and watching, as they always did? In other words, aside from proclaiming "men only", what practical changes are made???

There were 12 shevatim. Each had a nossie. Yet they all followed Moshe rabbeinu. Each kehillah has a rov. A yeshiva has it's Rosh. Chassidim have their Rebbe. But then there is the Moshe Rabbeinu of our generation!

Moshe was go'el rishon and will also be go'el acharon.

Typical Israeli-Chareidi response. When all else fails, exclude women.

Maybe he will change his tune when Chabad will be mikarev his child who went off the derech and now attends shiurim in chassidus, or his relative who sold his soul to a drug addiction and is now learning in a Chabad yeshiva...maybe then his tune will change...or maybe not. Rabid dogs don't think rationally as they howel at the moon.

A shoteh is one who speaks when he knows gornisht.

Any faternatizing between geneders was done at the EXIT.. i.e. OUTSIDE the simchas beis hashoeva.. this is ridiculous!

So they will instead mingle elsewhere what crazyness.

Chabad did their best to include women. Once the chareidim called for a boycott, they figured better to cancel the women's element of the event yet maintain the simchas yom tov on the Jerusalem streets. They were pinned to a wall and with no other options, were left to restrict the event to a male only event.
